The Rosebud Dreamer Ruana was designed to provide a chic transitional piece! You can style it for any season. Using a mixture of Puff Stitches, Half Double Crochet Stitches, & double Crochet Stitches to give you a beautiful textured piece. This ruana pattern is at a Beginner Level to construct, & the pattern also provides step by step photo tutorials to help you along the way. Plus did I mention...it works up super fast! What could be better?

Inspiration for the Design:

The inspiration for this design was to create a oversized comfy piece that looked uniquely beautiful & only takes you a couple of weeks to make. While also providing a size inclusive pattern that chic yet comfortable for any body type.

The Yarn

I had the absolute honor to test out Lion Brand / Two Of Wands new yarn "Color Theory Yarn" in Canyon. I wanted a yarn that would work up very quickly but still gives you that light weight feel. You can use any thin #4/Worsted Weight yarn OR a thick #3/DK Weight yarn. Just make sure to do a gauge swatch to make sure your yarn selection will work for you.

Tester Reviews:

My testers have absolutely fallen in love with their Rosebud Dreamer Ruana, so I have asked them to give their perspective of this design, pattern, & overall feelings of it. That way everyone can see how beautiful this design makes them look & feel. Nothing but body positivity here❤❤❤

"I loved making the Rosebud Dreamer Ruana! The pattern is clearly written, works up quickly and with ease. I love the 2 panel construction, and decided to add the fringe to mine which really sets off those boho chic vibes. The simple, yet unique texture of the puff stitches gives added visual interest and I’m so pleased with the drape, fit, and customization  of this design."

"This pattern was such a blast to work on. It's a great project for those looking to delve into the world of garment making or beginners looking to add a new stitch to their repertoire. What I love most about this pattern is that it's easy to customize to your preferred fit. It's more complicated than your standard single or double crochet but not so difficult you can't put on your favorite show in the background. This piece is so stunning in both solid colors and stripes. Overall I really loved the process and would love to make another ruana in pink!"

"The Rosebud Dreamer Ruana is a beautifully written pattern. The finished product is gorgeous and looks perfect for those late summer, early fall looks. The pattern works up quickly so you can make it in a variety of colors to suit your needs. It was a pleasure to test this pattern and I look forward to making more in other colors."

"The Rosebud Dreamer Ruana pattern is easy to follow and works up so fast! The textured stitches are absolutely beautiful and beginner friendly. This ruana looks gorgeous in any color choices and is so fun to make!! ❤"

"This ruana is definitely a go-to fall design. It's light and airy, so it makes a great autumn transition piece. This piece works up quickly, and it's nice only having two panels to work with! I think it only took me about a week, on and off, working on it to complete it. The main stitch that stands out is the puff stitch that pops like a rosebud. It's super easy and fun to do, and it give the ruana so much dimension. I like that you have the option to seam the side to create arm holes. I went with that option because it feels more like a cardigan that way. However, unseamed it also looks flawless, like a cozy wrap. The fit for me is great! Overall, its a bit oversized (not close fitting), but that makes it feel like youre wearing a stylish, light blanket. I went with the suggested yarn Color Theory, and I was not disappointed. The drape is so beautiful, and the yarn is soft and easy to work with.

Anastasia came through with another beautiful design! This ruana speaks to her style for sure! It has lovely texture and details that catch eyes. I love showing off pieces that she designs, because they are so fahionable! I would highly recommend this pattern for a quick, fun, and easy fall transition piece!"

"The Rosebud Dreamer Ruana pattern is beautiful, and I loved working on this project. I particularly enjoyed playing with colors in order to bring out the various elements of the design, especially the rows of "rosebuds." I used three colors from the new Color Theory yarn from Lion Brand and Two of Wands--Nutmeg, Raisin, and Canyon--and I alternated them throughout the ruana. One side highlights Raisin as the predominant color, with Canyon for the rosebuds, and the other side reverses this scheme. On both sides I used Nutmeg for grounding. I liked experimenting with color in this way, and it was fun to see how the colors played so well with each other. "

"First of all, it is always a pleasure to test your patterns.  They are sure to keep me interested and come out looking great!  I haven't made one of your items yet that I wasn't happy with.  The Rosebud Dreamer Ruana did not disappoint.  It was interesting to make as it has such a wonderful and varied stitch pattern. But it wasn't hard at all and an adventurous beginner would have no problems.  After seaming mine, I was delighted with the look and how wonderful the drape was!  It will be a great "extra layer" garment this fall over long or short sleeved tops, as well as a tank top.  This garment looks great with jeans, shorts, dress pants, and I feel it would look great over a dress, also. It's easy to wear and hangs well on the body due to the amazing drape of the finished fabric.  After seeing some of the other testers' photos, I can honestly say, the Rosebud Dreamer Ruana looks great in all sizes and on all body types. I just can't wait for it to get cool enough in my neck of the woods to wear it!

And I can't say enough about the yarn.  I used the suggested yarn, Lionbrand Color Theory, in the color Bee Pollen, and I have found a new favorite, worsted weight/acrylic yarn.  The colors are muted and "fallish" and they all seem to go well together.  It is super soft and machine washable/dryable, so very easy care, also.  I have already bought more of this yarn for another fall/winter garment!"

"In my opinion this crochet project was a breeze, really relaxing and easy to do . Every step was well explained and I didn’t encounter any difficulties throughout the pattern. The yarn I used was Lion Brand Pima Cotton 1,116 yards/ 3.5 oz per ball total ,very fast project taking me around 2 weeks to finish it. Lastly this pattern is very beginning friendly for any new crocheter out there."

"The pattern is well written and so easy to follow! Love how she worked this design of rosebud in the ruana. It’s amazing! You can be creative with different colors or one color. Trust me you’ll enjoy making this ruana! And it’s only 2 long rectangles! And you have options! Which is great everyone can be creative of however they want to wear it. Also make sure you meet the gauge, that’s very important. And another good thing, she also include if you want to make it shorter or longer.. oh and add fringes, another great options! Too many choices! Any way you do you’ll love to wear it!! It’s comfy and so so beautiful!"

"The Rosebud Dreamer Ruana is an extremely well written pattern that features the puff stitch to create a beautiful textured look! It is so easy to follow along with Anastasia’s patterns. I’ve pattern tested a few before & I promise they aren’t as intimidating as they seem. Any confident beginner really can do it, just take it one stitch at a time.

The puff stitch is a fun & cute stitch to get the raised up texture in this ruana. It’s featured in the Rosebud Dreamer Tee as well (which I recommend checking out too). This pattern is created by making two long panels & seaming them together with the option of adding arm seams. Hardly any sewing at all. So simple, right? Right.

This piece is going to be a staple in my closet this fall. It can easily fit into anyones wardrobe as well! The length is adjustable to fit any height as well as a sizing range from xs-5x. Add that with your yarn of choice & you will have a beautiful custom piece for anytime of the year. 10/10 recommended making a RoseBud Dreamer Ruana. “

"Design: easy repeat, lots of texture, the puff and double stitch makes the cutest little rosebuds

Stitches: love the shell and puff stitch combo fun and fast to create

Fits : loose and comfy, great for over a tank, a tee or even a fall turtle neck

Experience: fun instagram chat group to share colour choices, tips on stitches and Anastasia always answers every question with lovely postitvity."

"I truly enjoyed making this and had a lot of fun looking through my yarn stash to find something that would be fun in the winter but still "fall like". I love making puff stitches because of the level of texture they make. I believe if I made it again I'd make the Large size or just make it longer. It is the perfect transitional piece for the late summer and early fall days."

"I was super excited to test Anastasia’s pattern Rosebud Dreamer Ruana. I’ve always admired her designs and have purchased so many of them. However, they’re mostly garments which I’m a newbie at, so I’ve been afraid to try any of them! I decided to try anyway and was happy to hear from her last month that I was chosen to test this ruana pattern.

First of all, ruanas are just cool. Part poncho, part vest, part cardigan - and this Rosebud Dreamer Ruana has TEXTURE FOR DAYS! I’m always amazed at the combination of stitches that Anastasia uses in her designs to add visual interest and beauty. This project does not disappoint. The stitches are basic - single crochet, chains, half & double crochet - but she combines them in beautiful ways (i.e. puff stitches, clusters) to truly give a rosebud look.

I also love that Anastasia gives multiple options to make the pattern your own. I chose to NOT seam up the sides, but others did so. And they’re all gorgeous!  Some testers used a solid color and others added multiple colors for a whole different look. It allowed all of us to be creative within the boundaries of the pattern itself.

Kudos to Anastasia!!"
