To top it off, this cardigan pattern is completely customizable to suit your preferences. Isn't that awesome?? The front has a flowy drape to it, so you can leave it down or you can cross the top and make it more of a blanket cardigan. The options are completely your own!






This Cardigan pattern is also worked up in 1 piece... That's right... ONE PIECE!! You work this cardigan from the bottom up with NO SEEMS!! It is also TESTER APPROVED.





Don't be intimidated, this pattern is for Advanced Beginners and Intermediate Level and it comes with step by step picture tutorials to help you along the way. The Forever Cardi is much easier to make than it looks, I promise!!

Materials:

*Any Worsted weight yarn *Size K/ 6.5 mm hook *Tapestry Needle *Scissors *2 stitch markers. (Optional)



Gauge:

12 sts + 9 rows = 4”


*Approximately 1300 yards used for the Large





Sizes:

*Sizing is based on bust size before your collar. *Keep in mind its supposed to be big & flowy

*Small – 38”      *Medium –42” *Large –46”        *X Large –50” *2XL – 54” *3XL – 58”  *4XL- 66” *5XL- 70” *6XL- 78”

*I am almost 5’9” and this Cardigan comes to my upper thigh. For taller women or if you just want it longer, add to your repeat rows

*The sizes will be listed.  S( M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL, 6XL)




Skill level: Advanced Beginner/intermediate



Abbreviations:

Slip stitch - SL st

Chain - CH

Yarn over – YO. 

Space-sp.    Skip space -sk    Single crochet - sc

Double crochet - DC

Double Crochet Together- Dc2tog.  Half Double Crochet- hdc. Half Double Crochet Together- hdc2tog  Front Post Half Double Crochet- fphdc. Back Post Half Double Crochet- Bphdc.  Back Loop Half Doubt Crochet – BLHDC





Special Stitches:

*Half Double Crochet in 3rd Loop-




*Puff stitch -   YO, insert hook into loop, YO, pull though loop,  YO, insert hook into the same loop, YO, pull though loop, YO, insert hook into same loop, YO, pull though loop, (total of 7 loops on your hook), YO, pull through all 7 loops, YO, pull though loop to close the stitch



*Puff V Stitch – puff st, ch 1, puff st all in the same st





Notes: *To help you better keep track of your desired size, I'd suggest highlighting or circling your size numbers before starting.






Pattern



*Working from the bottom up

1. (RS) Ch 94( 106, 118, 130, 142, 154, 178, 190, 214), hdc in 2nd ch from hook & in every ch across, turn.          93( 105, 117, 129, 141, 153, 177, 189, 213 hdc)

2. (WS) Ch1, hdc in same st & in every st across, turn.       93( 105, 117, 129, 141, 153, 177, 189, 213 hdc)

3-4. Ch1, sc in same st & in every st across, turn.   93( 105, 117, 129, 141, 153, 177, 189, 213 sc)

5. (RS) Ch2, dc in same st & in next 2 sts, *sk sp, puff v-st, sk sp, dc, hdc, sk 2 sps, (4dc, ch1, 4dc) – Shell st, sk 2, hdc, dc* - rep across, dc in the last 2 sts, turn

6. (WS) Ch2, dc in same st & in next st, *Bpdc, puff v-st in ch 1 sp, Bpdc, hdc, ch3, sc in ch1 sp, ch3, hdc in hdc from previous row*  - rep across, dc in last 2 sts, turn

7. (RS) Ch2, dc in same st & in next, *Fpdc, puff v-st, fpdc, 3 dc in hdc sp, sc in ch3 sp, ch1, sc in ch3 sp, 3 dc in hdc sp* - rep across, dc in last 2 sts, turn

8. (WS) Ch2, dc in same st & in next st, *Bpdc, puff v st, bpdc, hdc in 1st dc from previous row, ch3, (SC, ch1, sc) in ch1 sp,ch3, hdc in last dc from previous row*- rep across, dc in last 2 sts, turn

9. (RS) Ch2, dc in same st & in next st, * Fpdc, puff v st, fpdc, hdc in hdc from previous row, shell st in ch1 sp, hdc in hdc from previous row* - rep across, dc in last 2 sts, turn

10. Rep rows 6-9 --- 4(5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9) more TIMES or until you reach a desired length from the bottom to just under your arm pit

11. Rep row 6, turn



Place Stitch Markers:

*Lay flat with RS facing up, count 2( 3, 3,3, 4,4 4, 4, 5) puff sts. On the last puff st designated for your size, place your 1st st marker in the fpdc before your puff st. Now do the same on the left side, starting from the other end.  Make sure both sides are even.




Right Panel:




1. (RS) Ch2, dc in same st & in next, *Fpdc, puff v-st, fpdc, 3 dc in hdc sp, sc in ch3 sp, ch1, sc in ch3 sp, 3 dc in hdc sp* - rep across, dc in last st, turn

2. (WS) Ch2, dc in same st, *  hdc in 1st dc from previous row, ch3, (SC, ch1, sc) in ch1 sp, ch 3, hdc in last dc from previous row, bpdc, puff v-st, bpdc*- rep across, dc in last 2 sts, turn

3. (RS) Ch2, dc in same st & in next st, * Fpdc, puff v st, fpdc, hdc in hdc from previous row, shell st in ch1 sp, hdc in hdc from previous row* - rep across, dc in last st, turn 4. Sleeves: (make 2)

1. Attach your yarn With a sl st at the bottom center of the arm hole. Ch1, hdc around, sl st to 1st hdc.                                                     • 2 hdc for every other dc side  sp




                                 • The pictures above show where to start your sleeves 2-3.  (Working in 3rd loop only) Ch1, hdc in same st & in every st around, sl st to 1st hdc

4. (WORKING in 3rd loop only) Ch1, sc in same st & in every st around, sl st to 1st SC                     Finish off, weave in ends.

                                                     Rep rows 1-4 on 2nd sleeve




Front Edging: (2 sides)

1. With RS facing up, Attach yarn at the corner, Ch1, hdc across, turn

2. (WS) Ch1, hdc in same st, *Bphdc, Fphdc*- rep across, end with hdc in last st, turn

3. (RS) Ch1, hdc in same st, *Fphdc around Fphdc, Bphdc around Bphdc*- rep across, end with hdc in last st, turn

4-9. Rep rows 2 & 3 or until you reach your desired length.

                                                         Finish off, weave in ends

Rep rows 1-9 on 2nd edging panel
